Gewürztraminer

About Gewürztraminer

In the vineyard the Little Beauty Gewurztraminer neighbours the Pinot Gris. And again, just a smidgeon planted, 0.92ha. As with the Pinot Gris, it can be a tricky customer in the vineyard. Requires a lot of TLC in order to get it ripe and in good health for harvest (which is only ever done by hand).

Q&A with Little Beauty

Q: How-the-heck do I pronounce that!?
A: Here’s a phonetical guide; ‘Gur-vurz-tra-mee-nur’.
Sweet as!

Did you know?

Gewürztraminer originates from the Germanic region of the world but being a cool climate variety it is well suited to Marlborough’s growing conditions. ‘Gewurz’ in German means spicy so look for these characters in this wine. Star anise, clove, cinnamon combine with exotic fruits like lychee. There’s hints of rosewater and Turkish Delight. A little character, for sure!
