Fantastic to attend the first ever Sustainability in Drinks Conference, London, UK.
Did you know the New Zealand Wine Industry are world leaders in Sustainability? Yep, it’s true. This year we celebrate 30 years of Sustainably Accredited Practice. The programme is detailed, data driven, evolutionary and revolutionary! We’re totally in to it! As such, we jumped at the chance to attend the first ever Sustainability in Drinks Conference in London, UK. Just some of the topics covered included:
- Regenerative Viticulture
- Importance of Soil Health
- Carbon Foot Printing
- The Value of Carbon – using sequestration to mitigate emissions and enhance natural capital
- Communicating Sustainability
We heard from speakers such as the legendary Jancis Robinson OBE, MW. Professor Paul Behrens from Oxford University – a specialist in climate, good and energy. And many other speakers of whom were total experts in their field, including our very own Sustainability guru, Dr Ed Massey PhD, and General Manager of Sustainability at New Zealand Wine Growers.
To sum up the day: It was inspiring. It was motivating. It was also a little bit worrying. We can – and must – do more, and we are! And we will! Watch this space…
